Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or date of birth entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. Monona County Warrant Records does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email may be retained long enough to respond and maintain the related correspondence. We do not voluntarily disclose those messages outside the organization, though a binding legal duty may require disclosure.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, servers may automatically receive routine technical details about the visit:
- The IP address assigned to your device
- Which browser you are using and its version
- Your device type and operating system
- The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
- The site that sent you here, if any
- Timestamps for each page view
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They help show, in aggregate, which pages receive visits and where users leave. Analytics providers may assist with that measurement. Browser controls can block cookies, but disabling them may change how parts of the site work.
What We Do With This Data
- Keeping the site up, running, and loading quickly
- Sending your search requests to the right partner service
- Figuring out which pages people find useful and which need work
- Tracking down and fixing technical issues
- Showing ads that may line up with your interests
No Warrant Data on File
Monona County Warrant Records does not host, maintain, compile, or sell a database of warrants or personal warrant information. It publishes general directions to Iowa Courts Online, the Monona County Clerk of Court, and the Sheriff's Office. The site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not assembled into consumer reports or files about other people.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Information submitted there is governed by the provider's privacy policy, retention rules, and sharing practices rather than this policy. Review those terms before sending a query because this site does not control them.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Monona County Sheriff's Office, Iowa court resources, legal aid services, or third-party tools. Once a visitor follows an outside link, that destination's privacy policy applies. Review it before providing personal details.
Certain advertising partners may track your activity across sites to show targeted ads. That tracking runs on their systems, not ours.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. Some information may end up with:
- Search partners that handle queries you run on our site
- Analytics services we use to track traffic and performance
- Ad networks that place ads on our pages
- Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security practices are used to protect collected data. No internet service can guarantee perfect security, so the site cannot promise that an unauthorized access event will never occur.
Users Under 18
The service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If such data is identified, a deletion request may be made.
Your Data Rights
Iowa consumer-protection and privacy law may provide rights in addition to those listed here. Iowa Code chapter 22 governs access to public records held by Iowa government bodies, but it does not turn this private site into a government records custodian. Subject to applicable law, you may:
- Ask for a copy of what we have on file about you
- Have us fix information that is wrong
- Request that we erase your data
- Opt out of certain kinds of data processing
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised as site practices or legal requirements change. A revised copy will appear here with its effective date.
